We then headed to the U.S. Consulate so that Viphak could get a new passport, use a phone to cancel his credit cards and have a shoulder to cry on (okay, he didn't cry, he actually took it in good spirits).
Afterwards, we were able to get a hold of Hertz who told us someone would be there to tow the car to the airport where we could get a new one (surprisingly, Hertz just keeps on giving Viphak more cars).
So that Scott and I could salvage our last day in Barcelona, we parted with Viphak (dangerous, I know...) and he graciously stayed behind to wait for the tow truck and take care of the car situation.
By then, it was already mid afternoon, and we tried to pack in as much as we could, first heading down to the beach:

Then taking a cable car over the harbor:

to Montjuïc (where the '92 Olympics took place). We hiked up to the castle that provided great views of the city and led us both to compare Barcelona to Los Angeles, both being massive urban sprawls.

After gorging ourselves on tapas for dinner, we met up with Viphak (who was surprisingly in one piece) and his two lady friends. Afterwards, we hoped into our 3rd rental car of the trip and drove as far away from Barcelona as possible.

Viphak Viphak, is that the end of your unfortunate events?
Is it one of your reasons why you were driving home late? It made everyone, especially Waverly worried about you so much.
after all this, there's no picture of the 2 european ladies?!?!?
