Hiking, Resting, Hiking, Resting, Drinking, Resting, Hiking

This past Saturday, I went with Waverly's classmates for a scenic hike in the Swiss mountains. We woke up at 7:30am (grrrr) to catch the early train to Wasserauen, and upon arrival, we were immediately greeted by the stench of cow manure at the train station.

The plan was to first hike up to the lake and then hike further up to the cable car and take it back down into town. Why we didn't take the cable car up and hike down is beyond me.

About an hour into our hike, we arrived at lake Seealpsee, which was about 1100m above sea level (pretty impressive until I realized we started at 900m above sea level). The lake was spectacular, especially after the sun came out. The pictures speak for themselves:

After indulging ourselves in some sausage and schnitzel at the restaurant overlooking the lake, we set out on what we thought would be a quick hike to Ebenalp, where the cable car was located. Little did we know, we'd be scaling the side of a mountain for the next two hours.

The views along the way were breathtaking...

... however, Waverly's face pointing at our empty water bottle (I had refused to refill it at a bathroom sink earlier) was not so breathtaking.

Eventually, we found a restaurant on the side of cliff where Waverly and I proceeded to pig out on Rösti (Swiss-style hashbrowns), fried eggs and some of the local beer (notice the label on the bottle is a picture of lake Seealpsee).

Stuffed and bloated, we somehow made it to the cable car, where we were whisked back to the bottom in a mere 5 minutes.

I thought I'd never make it to the top. The thought of riding the cable car down kept me going.
